Before completing reporting training, Mr. Buie graduated from Amarillo Junior College and Texas Tech University. He is a graduate of the US Air Force School of Military Science – Officers and served during the Vietnam conflict until his honorable discharge. He completed his court-reporting training at McMahon College in Houston, Texas and began his reporting career in New Orleans, Louisiana. He later continued his career in Dallas as a freelance associate. And in 1991 he formed the court-reporting firm, Michael Buie & Associates, which ultimately became MBA Reporting Services LLC

Since 1975 Mr. Buie has demonstrated expertise in reporting diverse and complex matters, including medical, aircraft, maritime, intellectual property, construction, energy and railroad cases, as well as both commercial and labor arbitrations, court hearing and meetings.

He holds not only the state certification as a CSR, certified shorthand reporter, but also the RPR, registered professional reporter; the CRR, certified real-time reporter; CRC, certified realtime captioner; and is a Texas Level III provider in communication access real-time translation (CART).

In addition to his membership and participation in the national and state reporting associations, he has published articles on various reporting subjects appearing in the Journal of Court Reporting of the National Court Reporters Association and The Texas Record, publication of the Texas Court Reporters Association. He is a state committee member and frequent seminar presenter and panelist at state seminars for court reporter continuing education in Texas.

His clients have included professionals in numerous fields in addition to lawyers and their clients. In 1996 he pioneered a program using court-reporting technology in a church setting designed specifically for the hearing challenged. And in 2004 the church received a national Caring Church award from the Christian Council on Persons with Disabilities as a direct result of this special program, using reporting skill in a nonjudicial setting. The article was featured in a nationally syndicated newspaper on May 5, 2001 entitled Church Finds Keys to Helping the Deaf to Worship and Words for Worship: Technology Helps Hearing-Impaired at Church Service.
